The scale is 0 to 5. In between scores like 2.5 are possible.
Games will have scores for categories and an "overall fun rating" which will not be an average of category ratings. The following is how I feel about each score level.
Overall Fun Score
5 = OMFG THIS GAME IS AWESOME YOU GUYS! NERDGASM
This is a partially joke rating, it is possible no game ever gets a 5.
4 = This is a great game, you must have this game
3 = This is a good game, definitely worth grabbing
2 = Game has some annoying things, but is tolerable, playable, and fun.
1 = Game has serious flaws, and is not much fun or broken in many places.
0 = Don't touch this. You might begin the apocalypse. It's that bad.
This is also partially a joke rating, and hopefully no game ever has to get it.
Categories will be made up as I see fit on a per game basis. As an example most games will
probably get a rating in a category called graphics, but missing not a text only or MUD game.
Missables
The "Missables" category is for games with things you can permanently miss, such as treasures in a location you can never return to. Game features such having to choose which of two characters, or which reward for a completed quest, generally do NOT count as "missed" content for the purposes of this category. Scoring is generally as follows, with few exceptions:
5 = Game not only has no missables, it also bonus features and/or unlockables that also can not be permanently missed.
4 = Game has no missables, or only has things that at first seem to be lost forever but later the game gives the player a chance to acquire lost items/content in some way, or has a feature like "New Game+" which renders accessible things that were originally missed.
3 = Game has missables that are only minor in nature and/or the player could have reasonably expected to have discovered without the use of a cheat guide.
2 = Game has missables the player could not have known existed until a great deal of time/gameplay has already passed.
1 = Game has missables that can severely ruin the players experience. For example by making optional parts of the game unable to be completed or leaving the player stuck unless they turn to a cheat guide for help.
0 = Game is rendered broken at multiple points by a things permanently missed that are required to finish parts of the game that can not be skipped.
